the apron which maketh the woman…

“If more of us valued food, cheer and song above hoarded  gold, it would be a merrier world.” – J. R. R. Tolkien

Up until now I have been apronless. Not through choice. Just circumstance. It seems like a minor issue. But for my baking clothes it is not.

Turmeric stains. Paprika is not kind to white and just because coconut oil is white, doesn’t mean it doesn’t leave its mark.

So on the weekend I came across my apron paramour. Love at first sight you could say. I’m obsessed with fifties/retro style and this little number suited to a T.

They say the apron maketh the woman. So here’s hoping this apron is the martha stewart of the gf/sf cooking world.

When I donned it yesterday it made me smile and think of a few zany cooking quotes I thought I’d share.

“I don’t exactly know what it means to be ready. A cake when the oven timer goes off? Am I fully baked, or only half-baked?” Jessica Savitch

“One cannot think well, love well, sleep well, if one has not dined well.” – Virginia Woolf, A Room of One’s Own

“Laughter is brightest where food is best.” – anonymous

“If we’re not willing to settle for junk living, we  certainly shouldn’t settle for junk food.” – Sally Edwards
How can you not be smiling when wearing an apron like this? Will definitely make my baking Sunday brighter.
“Tomatoes and oregano make it Italian; wine and tarragon make it French. Sour cream makes it Russian; lemon and cinnamon make it Greek.  Soy sauce makes it Chinese; garlic makes it good.” – Alice May Brock
“If junk food is the devil, then a sweet orange is as scripture.” – Audrey Foris
Happy sunday
